Candice Swanepoel was born on October 20, 1988 in Mooi River, South Africa small farming village in the Midlands of KwaZulu- Natal – she was spotted by model scout Kevin Ellise in a Durban flea market at the tender age of 15, and by 16 she was earning 5 000 Euros or R40 000 for a day’s work.
She supposedly hit the runway at the nubile age of 16. In 2007 Candice became the first South African model to walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. She appeared in the 2008 and 2009 shows too, as well as numerous catalogs and TV commercials for Victoria’s Secret.
Candice Swanepoel’s graced the covers for Vogue (Greece), ELLE (Germany), GQ, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan (South Afriaca) and Ocean Drive (U.S.) and advertisements for Agua Bendita, Apriori, Diesel, Fornarina, Guess, Kensie, Nike, Spezzato, Stimorol, Tommy Hilfiger, Versus eyewear, Victoria’s Secret and Topshop.
Swanepoel has walked the runway for Tommy Hilfiger, Dolce and Gabbana, Sass and Bide, Betsey Johnson, Diane von Fürstenberg and numerous other designers, as well as for Victoria’s Secret in 2007, 2008, and 2009.
In addition to appearing in the lingerie brand’s commercials, she was a featured model in the 2010 “SWIM” catalogue, along with Lindsay Ellingson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Erin Heatherton.
In 2010, she became one of the company’s signature Angels. Swanepoel modeled for the Kardashians’ 2010 swimwear line Beach Bunny and Zeki Swimwear 2010.
